It’s a month post-Christmas. The gloomy January days are starting to get you down. Then you remember – there’s Burns Night to look forward to! They’ve got it right, the Scots. And so have our Men’s Group, for while we may be hundreds of miles from the land of tartan, they have truly made Burns Night a Pagham institution.

This year’s haggis had the honour not only of being piped in, but of being addressed and plunged by Rev’d Jo. Having been “killed” to the sound of rapturous applause, our esteemed haggis was devoured with neeps and tatties, washed down with whisky and wine and followed by delicious trifle.

Pipers, Simon’s Scotch themed quizzes, a raffle and toasts kept the evening flowing. At the end of the night, as we walked out into the winter rain, we were sorry to be hanging up our tartan and tweed for another year. But we headed home with a spring in our steps. Thank you Men!
