Charitable giving is an important part of life at St Thomas à Becket’s. The PCC has a policy of donating approximately 5% of its income (£5,000 approx.) to charitable causes, both at home and abroad. Each year the PCC review the level of giving, and to whom they are donating.
In 2015 the following was given by the PCC from Church Funds:
Us (Formerly USPG) £340
Mission to Seafarers £340
Tear Fund £340
Christian Solidarity Worldwide £340
Grass Roots £340
Church Army £340
St Wilfrid’s Hospice £340
Family Support Work £340

We also raised money for the following in 2015:

Link for Hope Shoebox Appeal – 80 boxes delivered, plus £160. We also donated 50 knitted blankets, large quantities of new knitted garments plus lots of hats, gloves, scarves etc. – contributed by Knit and Natter Group and others.
Christian Aid – £716.33 (£811.33 once gift aid is added) from a variety of events.

We are very grateful to Rev’d Colin Wood for volunteering to have oversight of our charitable giving. One or two of our chosen Charity partners have been invited to speak to the congregation during the morning service, giving information on what they do.
