Tenth Sunday after Trinity

Collect for the day Let your merciful ears, O Lord, be open to the prayers of your humble servants; and that they may obtain their petitions, make them to ask such things as shall please you; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Church Roof update: now that the scaffolding is in place at the east and west end of the church, further inspection has revealed serious faults in the stonework. A structural engineer has been appointed to carry out a survey and make recommendations. This will result in extra work, but there is a contingency in the budget for such eventualities. As soon as we have an indication of the increased cost we will update you. We are still short of our funding target; if anyone is able to assist with a pledge or loan to help us over the line, pleases speak to the churchwardens.

Photographic record of the repairs: we would like to document the progress of repairs to the roof, to keep our donors and sponsors informed. If you have some spare time on weekdays (ie while the work is taking place), and a good quality camera, please contact Mike Wake for more information: 264254, mikewake@talktalk.net.

Thank you to all who attended the Friends’ event at The Spur last week. £152.50 was raised for the Roof Fund.

Ladies’ Club: our next meeting is on Tuesday 3 September at the Church Centre, 7.45 pm. The speaker is the Revd Tony Oehring, who will talk about his work as Chaplain of Ford Prison. All welcome.

Institution and Induction of Revd Mark Eminson on Wednesday 4 September. The coach (now full) will leave the Church Centre at 4.45 pm, returning at approx. 11.30 pm.

Stonepillow’s 30th anniversary: Saturday 7 September between 12 noon and 5 pm, in the Bishop’s Private Garden by the Cathedral (access via Canon Lane). “We are hosting a Community Thank You event to commemorate 30 years of operation, and show our appreciation to all who have supported us …” – including Pagham Church. Worship services during the vacancy: weekday Morning and Evening Prayer will be suspended throughout the vacancy. Every effort is being made to engage clergy to cover all of our regular services, but this may not always be possible.
