Yesterday, after celebrating the dedication of our church to St Thomas à Becket at the Eucharist, we gathered back in the vicarage garden for a barbecue. On the right you can see Dave, Alex and Stephen who masterminded the day. Thanks to them for slaving over a hot grill all afternoon to feed us all.
As 2pm approached, tennis fans shifted into the TV room to watch the Men’s Final. As the final set drew to a close, and great whoops emanated, the rest of us ran in to join them. After the historic victory and much leaping up and down, out came the champagne. Outside, infected by the excitement, the younger children began a water fight and went home utterly drenched. It was, quite possibly, a perfect day.
