On 28th April we  held a Fundraising Auction in aid of our Raise the Roof campaign. Local businesses and individuals generously donated nearly fifty fabulous lots, these included Goodwood tickets, a David Beckham signed Real Madrid football shirt, advanced driving lessons, catering for an outdoor event, an alpaca experience, luxury gifts and vouchers, meals out and much more. Bidding became rather heated at times and on several occasions friends found themselves competing against each other to win the object of their desire. Luckily any hard feelings were soothed by drinks and canapes during the interval. Auctioneer Simon Tooley ran a tight and extremely entertaining ship, ably supported by his glamorous assistants from the Men’s Group. You will not be surprised to hear that the Beckham shirt raised over £300, but the top lot was in fact a set of antiquarian books – the Three-volume History of Pagham. With all the lots paid for at the end of the night we were delighted to find that we’d raised over £3,500 for our cause. Many, many thanks to all those who gave the auction their lots, their organisational skills and their money!
