Sixth Sunday after Trinity

Collect for the day

Merciful God, you have prepared for those who love you such good things as pass our understanding: pour into our hearts such love toward you

that we, loving you in all things and above all things, may obtain your promises, which exceed all that we can desire; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

Amen.

NOTICES and events in August and September

Farewell to the Eminson family! We are very grateful for their ministry and the sharing of their lives in Pagham over the last seven years, and pray for them as they settle into their new home and life in South Wimbledon. May the Lord bless and keep you all!

Institution and Induction of Revd Mark Eminson: this will take place in Mark’s new ministry as Team Rector of Merton Priory Team, at Holy Trinity Church, South Wimbledon, on Wednesday 4 September. There are only a few seats remaining on the coach. This will leave the Church Centre at 4.45 pm (please note change of time), returning at approx 11.30 pm. As we have to pay the coach company in advance, could those coming now let Trudi have £15 per person, which will include a tip for the driver.

Church Roof update: the retiling of the roof has begun! It will take about four months to complete. While the work is going on, the building will be surrounded by scaffolding and plywood hoarding. The church will remain open throughout, and services will take place as usual. Do take extra care while the work is in progress. See the noticeboard for a fuller report, and for updates on progress and ongoing fundraising.

Photographic record of the repairs: we would like to document the progress of repairs to the roof, to keep our donors and sponsors informed. If you have some spare time on weekdays (ie while the work is taking place), and a good quality camera, please contact Mike Wake for more information: 264254, mikewake@talktalk.net.

Thank you to all who took part in the Friends of Pagham Parish Church Cream Tea last Saturday, especially the Glenwood Ladies’ Choir under the direction of Ann Gristwood, and all who baked delicious scones and made the tea! Nearly £350 was raised for the Roof fund, to help towards the final £40,000 still required.

Friends’ next event: our next social and fundraising event is Skittles & BBQ on Friday 16 August, 7 for 7.30 pm at The Spur, Slindon. Tickets £18 from Mo Hatzfeld; 268576.

Good News deliverers: We are seeking deliverers for the following rounds: Edwen Close, part of Church Way, Laurel Drive, Old Barn Close, Mill View Close. If you are able to assist please speak to Trudi or Mo.

Morning and Evening Prayer: as this cannot be guaranteed, weekday Morning and Evening Prayer will be suspended throughout the vacancy. However, the church will be open each day as usual, so if anyone wishes to say the Daily Office themselves, they are welcome to come and do so.
