Presentation of Christ in the Temple (Candlemas)

Collect for the day

Almighty and ever-living God, clothed in majesty, whose beloved Son was this day presented in the Temple, in substance of our flesh: grant that we may be presented to you with pure and clean hearts, by your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

Amen.

Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday: all are welcome to join us for pancakes and a glass of something at the Vicarage, 38 Kings Drive, on Tuesday 13th February, 4.30-7pm (no Eucharist that evening). On 14th February, all are encouraged to mark the beginning of Lent at one of the services with ashing (on the forehead) at 10am, 4pm and 8pm.

Lent Groups: options for the Diocesan Lent Course during this Year of Prayer are on the noticeboard. The course is called “Inspiring Vision”, and includes several speakers reflecting on a favourite piece of religious art.

Confirmation: if anyone feels that God may be calling them towards this step in faith, do please speak to Mark for more information.

Prayer requests can be placed in the box at the back of church, and will be included in Sunday intercessions. This is for wider local or international situations, and can be a fully-worded petition. The prayer board nearby is for the names of those who are sick, or who have died.

Mollie Cann: we were saddened to hear of Mollie’s passing, and pray for her and for her family at this time. Mollie’s funeral will be on Monday 5th February at 2pm at Chichester Crematorium.

Stewardship: thank you to those who have responded to last October’s stewardship appeal. If anyone wishes to know more about ways to give financially for the life and mission of our church, do speak to Frank Parvin (264346).

Parish Book Group: our current book is ’The Rebirthing of God’ by John Philip Newell. Join a discussion group on Monday 26th February at 8pm or Thursday 1st March at 10am. See the Book Group notice board for further information.
