Collect Blessed Lord, who caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning: help us so to hear them, to read, mark, learn and inwardly digest them that, through patience, and the comfort of your holy word, we may embrace and for ever hold fast the hope of everlasting life, which you have given us in our Saviour Jesus Christ, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.    Amen.

Psalm response  Happy are they who trust in the Lord!

Remembering and Remembrance 2020

This season starts on Sunday 1st November with All Saints’ Day, which we will celebrate at the 09:30 service with the sending out of the Link to Hope Shoeboxes. Please bring your shoeboxes and offerings to the service.

Sunday 1st November at 16:00: Memorial Service – Commemoration of the Faithful Departed.
The season of remembering and remembrance continues at this quiet and reflective evening service. All are welcome to attend when we remember by name those we love but see no longer. If you would like the names of your loved ones to be read out, please send Mthr Lucy or Mo Hatzfeld an email, or a clearly written note. If you would like to attend please let Trudi know, as below.

Sunday 8th November, Remembrance Sunday: This year the Parish Act of Remembrance will take place during the 09:30 Parish Eucharist which will include a 2 minute silence, as well as the reading of the names of the fallen from the Pagham and Aldwick war memorial. At the end of the service the parish wreath will be laid at the war memorial, and individuals are invited to pay their own respects as they leave the church, should they wish to. Public gatherings are being discouraged this year to avoid large gatherings of people. It is intended that the arrangements at the church will allow us as a congregation to mark Remembrance Sunday, but also to allow individuals to observe the national silence at 11:00 at home and join in the ‘Doorstep’ commemorations with neighbours in the parish, as encouraged by the Royal British Legion.

Tuesday@7: from 3rd November, the Tuesday evening Eucharist is making a comeback and will be particularly aimed at young people and families (although all are welcome!). A familiar service, shorter length, new music and particularly family friendly input. Please spread the word!

Keeping safe at church: numbers for all main events have to be limited, so please inform Trudi by 20:00 on Saturday and Wednesday for Sunday and Thursday services respectively. To book your place, contact trudikearsley@hotmail.co.uk or 01243 263597//07703 597353.

Church family prayers: We are reviewing the prayer list for members of the Church community and so for the next few weeks we won’t be listing names on Pews News. If you would like to be prayed for by name on the Pew News in the future please give your name and those in your household (under 16) to Trudi, who will be compiling a new list. If you have young people over the age of 16 in your household, who would like to be included, please encourage them to make contact separately, we can only add them if they give their own permission. I’m afraid we are not able to publish your name unless we hear from you. The best way to make contact is by emailing trudikearsley@hotmail.co.uk, or calling 01243 263597//07703 597353. Mthr Lucy
