Intention: Pray for all those who do difficult work on our behalf, especially in the armed services and the emergency services.

Intention: Pray for the Church’s worldwide mission; for all the missionary societies and for The Bible Society.

Wednesday 25th October

Intention: Pray for our Diocese of Chichester, our Bishops, Martin, Mark and Richard; the archdeacons, clergy and people; for the work of Diocesan Synod and Church House; for the witness of Chichester Cathedral.

Intention: Pray for vocations to the ordained ministry, especially any within our own parish; for the theological colleges and for all ordinands in training and for vocations to the religious life.

We pray for church members who live in residential care or receive communion at home. This week we pray for Pam Ryan, John and Velda Scully, Daphne Sharrad, Edna Swinnerton-Beet, Barbara Waldron, Daphne Woolnough, Maureen Yates.

 

We pray for God’s blessing upon all who live in The Court, The Crescent, The Dunes.

 

We pray for Jacob Hauxwell and Arthur Scott-Moore and his parents and godparents on the day of his baptism.

 

We pray for USPG whose work we support as a parish.

CANCELLED: There will be no Tuesday evening Eucharist this week.

 

PCC Away Day is on Saturday 11th November at the Bishop’s Palace in Chichester between 10am and 3pm. Anyone is welcome to join us as we think through the forthcoming Year of Prayer. Do sign up on the sheet on the noticeboard (and indicate what kind of food you can bring for shared lunch).

 

Bible Sunday 29th October: do bring in your own Bible on this day as the Year of the Bible draws close to its conclusion.

 

Memorial Service: Sunday 5th November 3.30pm followed by refreshments. All are welcome to attend this service. Do add any names for whom you would like prayer to the list at the back of church.

 

Christmas Quiz: Copies of this year’s Christmas Quiz are now available from Mo Hatzfeld, priced at £1.00. This year’s prize is a hamper filled with lovely Christmas goodies. All profits go to Raise the Roof Fund.

Concert: Chichester Voices’ will be performing a further concert at St George’s, Whyke featuring some of the great works of George Frideric Handel on the 4th November. If you would like to go please speak to Andrew Naylor who is thinking about organising transport as parking is very limited. All proceeds to St Wilfred’s Hospice.

 

Church Path: Bruce Evans has for many years ensured the church path has been cleared of fallen autumn leaves to prevent it becoming slippery in wet weather and maintained the flower pots around the church during the summer months. He understandably now feels the time has come for others to take this on. If anyone is willing to join a rota for path sweeping on Saturday mornings please let me know, and if looking after the pots is your forte please speak to Bruce. – Mike Wake 07899705632.

 

2017 Link to Hope Shoebox Appeal: This year’s leaflets are available at the back of church – boxes for family or elderly. Filled boxes need to be returned to church by Sunday 5th November. If you feel that you are unable to fill a whole box, but would like to help, perhaps you could supply some of the items or money towards the transport costs.
