Fourth Sunday of Easter

Collect for the day

Almighty God, whose Son Jesus Christ is the resurrection and the life: raise us, who trust in him, from the death of sin to the life of righteousness, that we may seek those things which are above, where he reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Psalm response:
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not be in want.

Post communion prayer for the Year of Prayer
Go before us, O Lord, in all our doings with your most gracious favour, and further us with your continual help, that in all our works begun, continued and ended in you, we may glorify your holy Name, and finally by your mercy obtain everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

NOTICES

Beryl Maynard RIP – we were saddened to hear of Beryl’s sudden death last week, and pray for her as for John and all the family. As befits their long association with Pagham, there will be a Memorial Service on Tuesday 15th May at 3 pm.

Ascension Day – this important festival occurs on Thursday 10th May. There are services at 10 am, 4 pm and 8 pm, so all can attend one.

Thy Kingdom Come – 10th–20th May. This global wave of prayer is most timely in our Year of Prayer. Do be praying for more people to come to know, love and follow Jesus, including those we know. If you might be interested in helping set up prayer stations in the church for that period, speak to Jo or Mark.

Prayer box – Mark invites the regular contributor to make themselves known to him, as it could be a chance to join the intercessions team!

Ladies’ Club: Tuesday 1st May at 7.45 pm, at the Church Centre, Nyetimber Lane. Speaker: Graham Minett, a local author. All welcome.

Art Exhibition: Saturday 5th–Monday 7th May. Please add your names to the sheets on the noticeboard if you are able to assist with catering or stewarding. If you are able to donate a cake or two, they would be very gratefully received. For information speak to Trudi (263597).

Beating the Bounds: our annual walk of the parish takes place after the service on Sunday 13th May. It really is a fine walk with picnic lunch at Copyhold Farm, Lagness (speak to Stephen Cox-Rusbridge for directions), and we ask God’s blessing on our parish, especially in this Year of Prayer.

Parish Book Group: Our current book is ‘The Wonder’ by Emma Donoghue. Join a discussion group on Monday 14th May at 8 pm, or Thursday 17th May at 10 am. Details on the Book Group notice board.

Good News: our monthly newsletter ‘Good News’ is an important part of our outreach. We are seeking deliverers for Edwen Close (27), Laurel Drive (20), Honeysuckle Drive (60), Old Barn Close/Mill View Close (40), 1-59 Harbour View Road (60). If you can help, speak to Mo Hatzfeld (268576) or Trudi Kearsley (263597).

Tailor’s dummies or mannequins needed! On 22nd September we will be displaying wedding attire at our Story of Pagham Weddings event. Could you help by loaning us a dummy or mannequin? Please ask your contacts too. Businesses would be thanked on publicity material. Contact Elise: 262713 or weddingstory@paghamchurch.org.
