Fifth Sunday after Trinity
Collect for the day
Almighty and everlasting God, by whose Spirit the whole body of the Church is governed and sanctified: hear our prayer which we offer for all your faithful people, that in their vocation and ministry they may serve you in holiness and truth to the glory of your name; through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Those who do what is right will dwell in the presence of the Lord.

NOTICES and events in July, August and September
Parish Mosaic: it’s your last chance to take part in the compilation of a Parish Mosaic, where lots of small photos will combine to form a giant image of our parish life! If you wish to take a photo representing any aspect of the life of St Thomas à Becket’s and Pagham, then send it in to Graham Jones at firstname.lastname@example.org today!
Church Roof update: after more delays, the retiling of the roof will soon be under way! It will take about four months to complete. While the work is going on, the building will be surrounded by scaffolding and plywood hoarding. The church will remain open throughout, and services will take place as usual. Do take extra care while the work is in progress.
Fundraising started three years ago, with a target of £350,000. We are still £40,000 short, so we need help with pledges or loans to get us over the line. To assist in this way, please speak to the churchwardens.
This has been the biggest single restoration project undertaken in this church. So a huge thank you to everyone for organising and supporting the extra fundraising events. We are very grateful for the many hours spent on grant applications, particularly by Mike Wake and Trudi Kearsley. See the noticeboard for a fuller report, and for updates.
All creatures of our God and King: we were saddened to hear of the recent death of Beamish, the elderly black cat who has attended services for many years. His last appearance was during the baptisms on 7th July, and his quiet presence lifted everyone’s spirits. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to his owners, Jane and Paul, who live opposite the church.
Pray for Bishop Mark: the Bishop of Horsham, Mark Sowerby, has now left the Diocese. We pray for him as he takes up the post of Principal of the College of the Resurrection in Mirfield, where our Parish Ordinand Gemma Green has just completed her first year of ordination training.
Farewell to the Eminsons on Saturday 27th at the vicarage, from 4 pm with a hog roast. Please sign up to show numbers for catering.
See notice board for details of the Institution and Induction of Revd Mark Eminson in his new Parish on Wednesday 4th September. Please sign up if you are coming; transport is available by coach, leaving the Church Centre at 5 pm, returning approx 11.30 pm: cost is £15 pp.
Friends of Pagham Parish Church: Skittles & BBQ on Friday 16th August, 7 for 7.30 pm at The Spur, Slindon. Tickets £18 from Mo Hatzfeld, 268576.
Good News deliverers: We are seeking deliverers for the following rounds: Edwen Close, part of Church Way, Laurel Drive, Old Barn Close, Mill View Close. If you are able to assist please speak to Trudi or Mo.
