Third Sunday of Advent

 

Collect for the day: O Lord Jesus Christ, who at your first coming sent your messenger to prepare your way before you: grant that the ministers and stewards of your mysteries may likewise so prepare and make ready your way by turning the hearts of the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, that at your second coming to judge the world we may be found an acceptable people in you are alive and reign with the father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

 

Psalm response: The Lord has done great things for us and we are glad indeed.

 

Post-Communion Prayer at the Advent Wreath: Lord Jesus, light of the world, John told the people to prepare, for you were very near. As Christmas grows closer day by day, help us to be ready to welcome you now. Amen.

Year of Prayer: As Advent and a new church year begin, we also start the Diocesan Year of Prayer. There will be a range of opportunities over the year. To start with, if you like the idea of being paired with another church member as prayer partners for the year, then write your name on the piece of paper and place it in the box at the back of church.

Parish Book Group: Our current book is ’The Warden’ by Anthony Trollope. Join a discussion group on Thursday 11th January at 10am or Monday 15th January at 8pm. See the Book Group notice board for further information and sign-up sheets.

 

Events 2018: Do take the leaflet with a list of important dates for the next year and add to diary/calendar, paper/digital.

 

Christmas hospitality: If you know of someone who might appreciate company on Christmas Day, we have had an offer of hosting. Speak to Mark or Jo for details.

 

Decorating the Church for Christmas: Saturday 23rd December from 9am. If you have greenery which you can donate please bring to the church either on Friday or early Saturday morning. If you would like to help please let Trudi know 263597.
