Almighty God, who through your only-begotten Son Jesus Christ have overcome death and opened to us the gate of everlasting life: grant that, as by your grace going before us you put into our minds good desires, so by your continual help we may bring them to good effect; through Jesus Christ our risen Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

Amen.

We ask God’s blessing on this whole parish and its needs as we beat the bounds!

TODAY – Beating the Bounds: Straight after church, stopping at Copyhold Farm Lagness for lunch around 1pm or so and then back to church for refreshment around 4/4.30pm. Essentially this is a prayer walk around the parish plus good feasting and fellowship.

 

Christian Aid Week: Christian Aid has been working with refugees since he Second World War, and this year celebrates its 60th year. Christian Aid Week takes place 14th – 20th May, we shall place envelopes in Church Sunday 14th May and would appreciate you returning them the following Sunday. Please an you also bring your Count your Blessings and give to Trudi, Gillian or Sue. Thank you in advance for your support and generosity.

 

Bognor 10K: All runners who would like to join me in a training run leading up to the big day for some fellowship and team bonding can meet on the prom opposite the Waverley for a 6pm start on Tuesday 16th May. We can run 8K along the sea front on part of the route (rain or shine!) and then have refreshment afterwards if you wish. Congregation – please continue to sponsor our team (sponsor form is on the notice board).

 

Sponsored Bell Ringing for ‘Raise the Roof’: On Sunday 4th June six past and present Pagham ringers will meet here at 2.00pm to attempt to ring a full peal to mark the 50th anniversary of the restoration of the bells. The peal if successful will consist of 5040 changes and take approx. 2 hours 45mins. Come along to watch and hear the ringers in action. Refreshments served all afternoon – more information from Mike Wake.

 

Music Rehearsal: This is now taking place on Sunday 21st May at 3pm, followed by a cuppa. If you have any song/hymn suggestions, then speak to Ann.

 

Save the date for your diaries this summer: Safari Supper – Saturday June 17th at 6:30pm, Cream Tea Choir Concert Saturday – July 8th at 2:30pm, Pub Skittles and BBQ Friday – August 18th at 7:00pm. Check the Church Notice Board and Pews News for further information in the coming weeks. All welcome, and all monies going towards the Raise The Roof Fund. These events are supported by the Friends of Pagham Parish Church

 

Discussion night at The Lamb – ‘The Bible and the Changing World’ is our theme on Wednesday 24th May – 7 for 7.30pm at The Lamb. All are welcome to ponder big themes and the response of faith and the Bible.

 

Ascension Day – Thursday 25th May – services are at 10am, 4pm and 8pm with refreshments. All are encouraged to worship on this major holy day (these replace the regular Tuesday and Wednesday services that week).

 

Thy Kingdom Come: we will be ensuring the church is open for longer than usual between Ascension and Pentecost for these important days of prayer, prompted by the Archbishops’ request to pray for the coming of the Kingdom. There will be various prayer stations in the church, so do try and be involved.
