Second Sunday of Advent

Collect for the day: O Lord, raise up, we pray, your power and come among us, and with great might succor us; that whereas, through our sins and wickedness we are grievously hindered in running the race that is set before us, your bountiful grace and mercy may speedily help and deliver us; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, to whom with you and the Holy Spirit, be honour and glory, now and for ever.

Amen.

Psalm response: Show us your mercy, O Lord, and grant us your salvation.

Post-Communion Prayer at the Advent Wreath: Lord Jesus, light of the world, the prophets said you would bring peace and save your people in trouble. Give peace in our hearts at Christmas and show all the world God’s love. Amen.

Year of Prayer: As Advent and a new church year begin, we also start the Diocesan Year of Prayer. There will be a range of opportunities over the year. To start with, if you like the idea of being paired with another church member as prayer partners for the year, then write your name on the piece of paper and place it in the box at the back of church.

Jo and family: We are pleased to announce that the Kings will be moving to North Bersted next year as Jo will become the next Priest-in-Charge of Holy Cross. Our loss will be their gain. We don’t as yet have any dates and timings and certainly have the Kings with us for now.

#God With Us: This is an Advent resource we commend to you and perhaps friends or neighbours. Do take a copy from church (leaving if possible a £1 donation) or you can get the resource free online at www.churchofengland.org/Christmas or by texting GODWITHUS to 88802.
