Introduction to Contemplative Prayer

Mthr Lucy will be leading an introduction to contemplative prayer using the meditation technique of World Community for Christian Meditation (www.wccm.org).

“Meditation is a universal spiritual wisdom and a practice found at the core of all the great religious traditions. It leads the practitioner from mind to heart and to the integration of these two centres of human being. It is not a complicated or essentially difficult practice. It is a way of simplicity, silence and stillness. It can be practised by anyone who is merely serious about beginning. Soon we learn that we are always beginners. This discovery transforms many interconnected attitudes such as our fear of failure, our craving for success and our reluctance to simply be ourselves.”

This introduction will run on the following dates: Tuesdays 19th, 26th July, 2nd and 30th August, and 6th September. All at 19:00 in St Andrew’s Chapel, St Thomas à Becket’s, Pagham.

Safari Supper: Saturday 23rd, 6:30 pm, £15, organised by ‘Friends of Pagham Church’: a three-course meal, moving to a different location for each course with different hosts and dining companions. This is a chance to meet new people and enjoy good food! Add your name to the list on the noticeboad if you would like to attend or host. Further details on the noticeboard, or from Trudi – 263597 or Sue Davis – 262915.
