The Baptism of Christ

Sunday 10th January

From 09:00 Online Eucharist (see below) Genesis 1: 1–5; Psalm 29; Acts 19: 1–7; Mark 1: 4–11

Collect  Eternal Father, who at the baptism of Jesus revealed him to be your Son, anointing him with the Holy Spirit: grant to us, who are born again by water and the Spirit, that we may be faithful to our calling as your adopted children; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.   Amen.

Lockdown 3.0: with the unanimous support of the churchwardens and the PCC, I have taken the difficult decision to suspend all public worship at St Thomas à Becket’s, Pagham, with immediate effect. This decision will be reviewed regularly, but we do not anticipate returning to public worship until at least 21st February 2021.

The church is also closed for private prayer at this time – this will also be reviewed regularly.

I realise that these decisions will be welcomed by many of you, and to others this response will come as a disappointment – especially as public worship and private prayer in church is still permitted where safe, in this Lockdown. So please know that these decisions have not been taken lightly, but reflect the very serious situation that we find ourselves living in and our duty of care for you, our neighbours and all those who visit Pagham Church.
It is an enormous privilege that, during this time of crisis, the nation has called upon its Church to keep praying and so we must answer that call, as a dispersed community. Our corporate worship will look different for the next few months, but keeping our eyes fixed on Him, who is our comfort and guide, continues to be the Church’s duty and its joy.   Mthr Lucy

Online services: during this lockdown an online Eucharist will be made available by 9 am every Sunday. Please do consider joining us on a Sunday or at a time that suits you (the service will stay on the page for many weeks), as we continue to pray together for ourselves, our country and the world.

Morning & Evening Prayer: Zoom services resume as listed. The praying of the Daily Office is an important way to pray together as a community, to offer up the day’s challenges and give thanks for the blessings. All texts are provided on screen. The link to this can be found in Trudi’s email. Please contact Mthr Lucy if you have any trouble joining the call.
