Intention: Pray for our children and young people, and their leaders; for our Children’s Groups, Wednesday Club and Youth Group.

 

Tuesday 6th September

Intention: Pray for our Archbishops, Justin Welby of Canterbury and John Sentamu of York; for the work of the Archbishops’ Council and General Synod; for the worldwide Anglican Communion.

Intention: Pray for the hungry, homeless, refugees and asylum seekers; for the work of The Church Army, Christian Aid and all relief agencies.

Intention: Pray for the Queen and Royal Family, our Nation and Government, our local MP and MEP.

 

Saturday 10th September

Intention: Pray for our local clubs and organisations, especially our Ladies Club, Luncheon Club and the Men’s Group.

We pray for God’s blessing upon all who live in Sea Way, Sefter Road and Shirley Close.

 

We pray for Mission to Seafarers whose work we support financially as a parish.

This will be a grand last day of summer for our Sunday School families, and the whole church family is invited to join in the fun. See noticeboard for further info and to sign up.

 

Church Diaries 2017: These are now available at the back of church. There is no charge, though you are welcome to make a donation.

 

Parish Book Group: Our current book is ‘Grantchester – Sidney Chambers and the Shadow of Death’ by James Runcie. See the Book Group notice board for further information and sign-up sheets. Join a discussion group on Monday 12th September at 8pm, or Thursday 15th September at 10am.

 

Church Clean: Saturday 17th September from 9am. Please come and assist in a serious clean of the church.

 

Last Night of the Proms: with Songs from the Music Hall Saturday 17th September, 7.30pm, at St Thomas à Becket’s Church. Tickets £5 on the door, and bring a flag to wave if you have one! For those without transport a mini bus service is available – contact Stephen on 01243 266800 for further info.

 

Harvest Festival Flowers: We will be decorating the church in readiness for harvest Festival on Saturday 24th September from 9.30 am. Donations of greenery, together with produce, would be very much appreciated. If you would like to donate towards the cost of the flowers, in memory of a loved one or to celebrate an event please speak to Trudi. Harvest Supper: Saturday 24th September, 6.30pm at the Church Centre. Join us for hearty home cooked food and homespun entertainment. Please bring your own alcohol. Adults £7.50, children £4, all proceeds to the Diocesan Harvest Appeal. See noticeboard for further info and to sign up. Money to Trudi or Elise by Sunday 18th September.

 

Food Bank: Don’t forget to keep bringing in food for those in need, the summer holidays creates added pressure on budgets as children are not fed at school and need entertainment too.

 

2016 Link to Hope Shoebox Appeal: This year’s leaflets are available at the back of church – boxes for family of elderly. Filled boxes need to be returned to church by Sunday 6th November. If you feel that you are unable to fill a whole box, but would like to help, perhaps you could supply some of the items or money towards the transport costs.
