Time and Talents – Thank you to those who have returned their questionnaires and please keep them coming!

Art Exhibition – Continues over this weekend  –  Sunday 12 noon – 5.00pm, and Monday 10.00 am – 5.00 pm. Thank you to all those who have been and are continuing to help.  Please come along and support us. We hope to take down the staging etc. after close of the Exhibition tomorrow – if you are able to assist please let Trudi know, or come along at about 5 pm.  Some help on Wednesday evening from 6 pm would also be welcomed, when the paintings are returned to the artists. Thank you.  Trudi Kearsley 263597

Pre Election – Discussion evening and refreshment at the vicarage on Wednesday 6th May at 8pm. Come along and discuss the House of Bishops’ letter and other issues in politics and faith.

In memory – It is 100 years since the deaths of James Patten and Maurice Blackman in the Battle Aubers Ridge (9th May 1915). This was an unmitigated disaster and over 10,000 men died that day (D-Day fatalities less than 3,000). Pagham lost two, Bognor three, Chichester four and Wadhurst in East Sussex lost twenty four. A day of great sadness.

Beating the Bounds – after church on Sunday 10th May we walk the parish boundaries asking God’s blessing on the land and all who dwell herein.  This year we will aim to raise some funds for Flood Defence.  Do walk part or all and enjoy picnic lunch at Copyhold Farm, Lagness and/or tea and cake in church

Ascension Day – Thursday 14th May – services at 10am, 4pm, 8pm so that all church members can make their communion on this glorious feast day (there will be no other midweek communions that week).

Flower Festival:  Friday 22nd – Monday 25th May, 10.00 – 5.00 (12.00 – 5.00 on Sunday), with a Champagne Preview Evening on Thursday 21st May. Sponsorship forms for the flower arrangements are at the back of church, or you can speak to Trudi Kearsley, Sue or David Smith if you would like to contribute a smaller amount.  We will need your help to make this a really successful event  – please sign up on the volunteer sheets, which can be found on the notice board in the South Aisle.  Help is needed for tickets sales, stewarding, catering and raffle tickets sales.  Flyers and posters will be available soon  –  please advertise this event wherever you can. Tickets for the Preview Evening, priced at £10, will be available  from David Smith shortly. Details/information:  Sue and David Smith 263560, Trudi Kearsley 263597

Annual Meetings – we are pleased to announce that Mike Wake and Stephen Cox-Rusbridge are our churchwardens. Thank you to David Smith for all his work as churchwarden as he stands down. Please see notice board for other results of elections and do take a booklet summarising the range of our church life last year.

Making Friends – Alison Blenkinsop, a retired midwife, hopes to move from Aldershot to Pagham soon and says: ‘I have already visited St Thomas à Becket church several times, and look forward to making friends with church members and other local people. I would love to hear from anyone who could give me information about the local area over a cup of tea, when I come house-hunting over the next few weeks. I would also like advice on getting a reasonable rate for occasional B&B. Many thanks, Alison.’ If you can help in anyway please contact Alison on aliblenk@hotmail.com or 01252 337189/07784544981.

Charitable Giving. Colin Wood will have oversight of the charities which our Church supports or gives to each year. Please contact Colin (264192) if you are our Representative for one of our charities, or if you have a particular interest in any of them.

Fifth Sunday of Easter

Collect for the day: Almighty God, who through your only-begotten Son Jesus Christ have overcome death and opened to us the gate of everlasting life: grant that, as by your grace going before us you put into our minds good desires, so by your continual help we may bring them to good effect; through Jesus Christ our risen Lord who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
