NOTICES

Remembering and Remembrance 2020

This season starts on Sunday 1st November with All Saints’ Day, which we will celebrate at the 09:30 service with the sending out of the Link to Hope Shoeboxes. Please bring your shoeboxes and offerings to the service.

Sunday 1st November at 16:00: Memorial Service – Commemoration of the Faithful Departed.
The season of remembering and remembrance continues at this quiet and reflective evening service. All are welcome to attend when we remember by name those we love but see no longer. If you would like the names of your loved ones to be read out, please send Mo Hatzfeld an email, or send a clearly written note: hatzfeld@btinternet.com; 268576. If you would like to attend please let Trudi know, as below.

Sunday 8th November, Remembrance Sunday: this year the Parish Act of Remembrance will take place during the 09:30 Parish Eucharist which will include a 2 minute silence, as well as the reading of the names of the fallen from the Pagham and Aldwick war memorial. At the end of the service the parish wreath will be laid at the war memorial, and individuals are invited to pay their own respects as they leave the church. Public gatherings are being discouraged this year to avoid large gatherings of people. It is intended that the arrangements at the church will allow us as a congregation to mark Remembrance Sunday, but also to allow individuals to observe the national silence at 11:00 at home and join in the ‘Doorstep’ commemorations with neighbours in the parish, as encouraged by the Royal British Legion.

Tuesday@7: from 3rd November, the Tuesday evening Eucharist is making a comeback and will be particularly aimed at young people and families (although all are welcome!). A familiar service, shorter length, new music and particularly family friendly input. Please spread the word!

Keeping safe at church: numbers for all main events have to be limited, so please inform Trudi by 20:00 of the preceding day for Sunday, Tuesday@7 and Thursday communion services. To book your place, contact trudikearsley@hotmail.co.uk or 01243 263597//07703 597353.

Bognor Regis Foodbank: Update and the ‘Countdown to Advent’ calendar

A message from Mandy the Foodbank Manager: “This is just a little note to say thank you so much for the recent donation of food that your church collected during Harvest. You may be surprised to know it amounted to 132.15 kg – which is truly amazing. Donations such as yours have enabled Foodbank to continue to support those most in need. Last week we gave out over 30 bags of food to families with children specifically to cover holiday meals! Thank you so much for the donation, your support is also vitally important to us and appreciated.”  Please help us to continue supporting Bognor Regis Foodbank in the most valuable way over the next month by donating items that can be used to help clients get ready for Christmas, during December. After conversation with Mandy I have created a ‘Countdown to Advent’ calendar designed to help you think about the items you might like to donate during November (attached to Good News and the communications email, with a few copies available at church). Items can be collected in a box and then delivered to the church on Advent Sunday, or brought in week by week and placed in the collection basket. Thank you for continuing to support the much-needed work of this resource. Mthr Lucy
