On Sunday 25th May, aka Rogation Sunday, we kept the ancient rural of tradition of “Beating the Bounds” – walking the parish boundaries singing hymns and praying for the protection of the land. At lunchtime the walkers enjoyed a well-earned picnic stop at Copyhold Farm. Its owners, the Cox-Rusbridges, valiantly sprinted ahead of the rest of the band to rustle up nibbles, organise seating and concoct a refreshing jug of Pimm’s. We particularly enjoyed being introduced to the newest batch of fluffy chicks, and were taught how to handle them by Alice Cox-Rusbridge. The ten mile walk finished up at church with tea, cakes and evening prayer. We felt truly thankful for the beautiful parish in which we live, and for the day of perfect sunshine.
